Scheduling Across Time Zones
Agree on a base zone (UTC or the organizer's) before converting. Do not look only at the offset: DST, overnight dates, weekends and local habits all matter. For recurring meetings, rotate times instead of always making one side stay up late.
Set the base zone and date.
Check each city's local time and weekday.
Avoid late nights/weekends; rotate.
Put the zone abbreviation/IANA in the invite, not just 9am.
For overnight meetings, include both dates.
FAQ
Are UTC and GMT the same?
Practically yes; strictly GMT is a zone name and UTC a time standard.
Why a half-hour offset?
India, Newfoundland and others use half-hour or 45-minute offsets.
